Steven R. Sedberry

Steve Sedberry is an attorney whose career path to law included a few detours before he reached his final destination of law practice.  He had been in business for almost 20 years, including a stint as the chief operating officer of a large industrial manufacturing company, and had also served as the Vice-President of Sales and Marketing prior to the company’s successful initial public offering.  He left the corporate world to pursue a lifelong dream of law school.  In 2002 he earned his law degree from Vanderbilt University Law School.

Steve’s path to Christianity had a few detours as well.  He accepted Jesus as a young boy in Houston, Texas.   But he had an “on-again/ off-again” relationship with God throughout his teen and college years.  Later, he fully committed his life to God and as a symbol of that commitment was baptized.  His legal experience provides him with a unique analytical skill set with which to analyze the claims of Christianity.  And his non-traditional path provides him with a unique perspective on many of the common misconceptions about Christian faith.

He is the author of the legal education book entitled, Law School Labyrinth- The Guide to Making the Most of Your Legal Education (Kaplan Publishing, 1st Ed. March 31, 2009;  2d Ed. May 3, 2011).  He has also has authored or coauthored several articles and scholarly works, including “Securities Law—Not Just Aimed at Wall Street Crooks”; “What Every Corporate Leader Should Know—The Changing Landscape of Corporate Integrity, Compliance and Governance Laws”; and “Regulation of the Securities Market in the Republic of Kazakhstan”, with Elya Duisemaliyeva, as contributors, Doing Business With Kazakhstan, Kogan Page, 2004.

Today, Steve is the Vice President of Legal Services for a large international apparel corporation.  He is licensed to practice law in Texas and Tennessee and is admitted to the United States District Court, Eastern District in Texas, and the Western District in Tennessee.  He is a member of the American Bar Association and the Association of Corporate Counsel.  He and his wife Beth have two daughters, Meredith and Lauren.  They live in Brentwood, Tennessee.
