Now read 2 Samuel. David encounters Bathsheba. You probably know the rest of the story. He commits adultery and murder in quick succession. He eventually fades away; a tragic and sad figure.
What happened? How can someone who trusts God completely veer so far off course?
Wherever there is the power to decide, there is the power to decide badly.
No matter who you are, you will make bad decisions. A deacon, a preacher, people of God, choose unwisely. It's just what we do.
But there's hope. Thanks to Jesus, no matter what we do, we are forgiven. He picks us up, dusts us off, and sets us back on our way. Here's the thing. The sooner we realize we've made a wrong turn and confess it, the sooner He can start his redemptive work in our lives.
So, be vigilant. Temptations are real. Think twice about the consequences of your actions. But forgiveness is real too. Tell God you're sorry, and move on. Trust in Jesus.
