What's in my job description? Helping others instead of hurting. Bringing joy instead of pain. Be an example to my kids. Being a partner to my wife. Giving rather than taking. But above all else, it means serving the Boss. Doing what He wants; not what I want.
Modesty aside, I do a pretty good job as a lawyer. I solve problems. I protect my clients. As human, I'm not so sure. Do I bring joy, rather than pain? Am I quick to anger, rather than forgive? Am I kind. Do I let others go first? Do I live by the axiom: "Not my will, Boss- this one's all yours."
Every once in awhile, I do that mid-term performance review. It's almost always a painful experience.
I wonder what would happen if I took my real job as seriously as I do my day job?
